Last night, I watched a famous bollywood movie which has title “Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham”. This movie has played by Sharukh Khan, Kajol and the most India legendary actor Amita Bachan. It is a modern movie which displayed many interesting places in England and India and has very colorfull costume. I like all the dancing and singing. Unfornately, the packaging of it’s story is not too attractive because this movie is setting dominantly. There are so many conversation which make me feel bored and want to finish this movie as fast as possible.
In another hand, this movie shows that western culture has been assimilated in india. I can see from many side such as in dancing, costume, and language. In part 1, when Rahul (Sharukh Khan) celebrated his birthday, they danced in two culture (using broadwalk style and india style). Then, the costume has designed in western culture (we can see Tina’s and Puja’s clothes). About the language, in all part they have combined English and india language. It’s not because a half of the setting take a place in England but if I compare with the other movie, they are alike.
Based on the phenomenon above, we can say that it included in modernization impact. We can’t closed our eyes that western is center of modernization. It is caused by their development is going to fast with a good quality in industrialization and high creativity in all department. Looking inside to our country, Indonesia, it can be a big motivator to us to moving as fast as them by stimulated our mind in creativity and developed our ability.
Movie industrialization in Indonesia doesn’t have a good creativity actually. According to my eyes, they are used taking a story from another country or they like horror theme with sex touching on it. It is very embrassing. But I’m still confusing because why Indonesian people like to watch it. I don’t understand with this condition. Is the problem come from the audience or come from the production house??? Or it is one sample of modernization in our movie industrialization. I don’t know the answer…
However, our industrialization movie also have educated theme. They are Desias, Laskar pelangi in all sequel, etc. Commonly, they have inspirited all audience. I think in this case, westernization attacked their mind (the writer and the production house) then finally it will influence audience to think like the writer. I’m very proud with this movie because I am one of the fanatic audience of this theme.
Yupz… westernization has influenced us and changed our live style. We can’t run away because we live in digital era which has distributed many information. The most important thing, television take an important role in society living especially for our young generation. Movie is one program of it. Final statetment, hopefully our government realizes about this problem and they can make a standard rule for television. “Made an educated movie for our society”.
